Faux Pyrite Crystal Cluster Ring

This fantasy crystal does not exist in nature. The closest stone I could find was a faux “pyrite,” but instead of squarish blocks, I have created crystal points and arranged a cluster from multiple points to achieve this look. 

The ring was created using a wrapped wire frame constructed of 16 gauge copper wire with a blue exterior. This raised ring is filled with polymer clay to which the faux crystal cluster is attached. The crystals are black clay with gold leaf gilding flakes and “24k glitter.” 

The bottom is decorated with a series of dotted impressions that spiral around the base and given a dusting with “Dubloon Gold” mica to make it irridescent. 

The sculpted portion of the ring was dipped in Minwax’s Waterbased Polycrylic to give the ring a shiny and sealed surface.
